The largest professional exhibition in Asia with 20-year history since 1995, China Composites Expo features special show area for new composite products and technologies, high forum discussing the development and strategy of the industry, as well as technical seminars and professional education and practical training courses.

One of the most famous international event in composites field will take place form 2-4 September at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Centre in Shanghai.

Thermoplastic veils

TFP will be introducing the company’s new, extended range of lightweight thermoplastic veils to the Chinese composites market at the show. The primary use for these veils is in improving the mechanical properties in composites.

The lightweight veils can be interleaved between reinforcement plies to provide means to significantly improve the interlaminar toughness of a composite structure, increasing resistance to both mode-I and mode-II fracture, the manufacturer reports.

Composite surfacing solutions

As well as these recent material developments, an array of products from TFP’s Optiveil, Optimat and Tecnofire ranges will be on display.

Optiveil and Optimat composite surfacing solutions are suited for application in the sporting goods, aerospace, automotive and energy industries. They are said to deliver a high quality, resin rich surface finish with the added benefit that fibre type can be selected to impart functionality, such as corrosion and abrasion resistance, or to achieve the required surface aesthetic.

Providing surface functionality

Other applications for Optiveil and Optimat include use as a resin flow medium, providing enhanced resin transportation in both inter-laminar and surface regions and removing the need to use additional flow media; ultimately lowering resin usage and scrap, according to the company. The ultra lightweight veils, from 2 g/m², are also an effective carrier or support for adhesive films.

TFP’s Tecnofire range is also designed to provide surface functionality, delivering highly effective passive fire protection for composites without the toxicity, structural compromises or maintenance issues associated with competing technologies.
