Home & Textiles Today presents this critical seminar, which is open to anyone interested in learning more about complying with textile chemicals management goals. The event will feature Target’s Kirk Smithwick, a principle product engineer who has worked on Target’s bedding, outdoor living textiles, and sustainability initiatives and Ben Mead, a green chemistry expert, who represents Oeko-Tex in North America. At the event they will discuss proactive textile chemicals management programmes.

Investment

Target recently announced a US$ 5 million investment to support green chemistry development. Target also announced a new policy for suppliers to eradicate harmful chemicals in textiles, personal care, and beauty products.

The company says it has committed to working with supply chain partners like Oeko-Tex to implement policies, practices, and tools that facilitate the responsible management of textile chemicals.

Testing and certification

Oeko-Tex offers testing and certification products that strengthen suppliers’ systems, processes, and products and, ultimately, help create more sustainable companies. More than 10,000 manufacturers, brands, and retailers in more than 60 countries are working with the 18 Oeko-Tex institutes around the world.

Oeko-Tex has issued more than 160,000 certificates globally and millions of consumers around the world look for Oeko-Tex labels before making buying decisions.
