ICTN 2010 brochureThe International Conference on Technical Textiles and Nonwovens, which is being held from 11-13 November 2010 at IIT Dehli, in India has issued a call for papers. The conference is being organised by the Department of Textile technology at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi.

The main objective of the conference is to bring together industry, research organizations and academia involved meaningful discussions on existing technical textile products, exploring possibilities for new product development, tapping domestic and global market potential for new products and innovations and finally to come up with a suitable strategy for the overall development of technical textiles in India.

According to the organisers: “The ever expanding field of technical textiles continues to consolidate its market share, ushering in newer avenues of functions and applications. India itself is at the threshold of technical textile development, which is set to play a huge role in the development of the country's various facilities, thus offering one of the greatest growth potential in this sector.

The conference at this juncture is thus expected to be beneficial for industries which are looking ahead to take advantage of the opened up global market, research organizations to ascertain thrust areas and various academic institutions to identify areas to focus their R&D efforts and develop appropriate technology and products.”

Conference papers should discuss design aspects and manufacturing technologies for various functional and technical textile products including technical yarns, woven, knitted, braided and nonwovens products. Application areas will include agrotech, buildtech, clothtech, geotech, hometech, indutech, medtech, mobiltech, oekotech, packtech, protech and sporttech.

The conference will deal with oral papers and poster presentations from different sectors of technical textiles. Special sessions will have invited speakers presenting on Protective, Medical, Composites, Nonwoven products and machineries.
