More than 250 participants joined the first-ever Outlook Plus Latin America conference in São Paulo, Brazil, this week, and more than 20 companies took the opportunity to exhibit, promoting their products and services.

With a comprehensive conference programme and networking activities to encourage interaction, participants declared the event a valuable chance to bring the global industry together at the heart of Latin America, according to the event’s organisers, the two global nonwoven trade associations, EDANA and INDA.

Agenda

Opening the conference, keynote presenter Roberto Macedo, PhD, outlined the global and regional economic prospects for the Mercosul Region (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Venezuela).

Examining market, product, and technology intelligence for hygiene and personal care during the first two days, the third and final day focused on durable nonwoven applications and future opportunities.

“Many of the speakers agreed in their description of exciting market opportunities, illustrating the diversity of the Latin American markets, which is well understood by participants in the supply chain,” said Pierre Wiertz, General Manager of EDANA. “EDANA is pleased to help the industry to make the best of those opportunities and continue to cater to the diversity of consumer needs in both single-use and durable nonwoven applications.”

Informative

“We are delighted to have co-organized this event with EDANA with support from ABINT. This is an important demonstration of the increased INDA/EDANA cooperation to advance the success of the nonwovens industry worldwide,” said Dave Rousse, President of INDA.

“The turnout from Latin America has exceeded our expectations and the quality of the questions and discussions indicates that the speaker line-up and programme content successfully met the needs of this important market in our Western Hemisphere. We will be looking forward to the feedback to inform our future direction on how best to meaningfully serve the needs of Latin America’s growing nonwovens industry.”

Effective and sustainable

“OUTLOOK Plus Latin America 2015 brought to Brazil a good view of our industry, as nonwovens manufacturers must interact with their final customer in an effective way, and as a result the event was effective, profitable and sustainable,” said Wagner Carvalho, President of ABINT.

“We were very impressed with the number of attendees, and the range of participants at the conference,” commented Antonio Fernando Elias, Commercial Area representative for Klabin.

“We were very happy to see this event take place in Brazil, which has a growing industry, with increasing number of local producers and range of products being made. OUTLOOK Plus gave us a chance to talk to both customers and suppliers, both those representing Brazil, and markets across the globe.”
