“The Symposium reflects the sentiment and the overall health of the industry. With the 2015 edition attracting more than 210 participants in Prague, where the event was first held in 2000, the event not only brings together representatives from the global nonwovens and related industries, but also allows us to take stock of how our industry has grown,” explained Patricia Featherstone, Chair of the EDANA Board of Governors, when opening the conference.

Positive feedback

Participants from Microban (UK), new to EDANA events, said: “This is a fantastic event. We have learned so much. The networking was great.” The similar view was shared by Thomas Broch, Fibertex Personal Care, sho noted: “Interacting with folk across the industry in such an effective way is a unique opportunity, I’ve made a lot of business contacts in just two days.”

Johan Berlin, Investkonsult, confirmed: “I am so pleasantly surprised by the crowd and by a number of new and very interesting topics.” Pernilla Karmalm, from SCA, also added that the location, the mix of papers and the organisation were just excellent”.

EDANA was commended for its innovative approach of opening the conference with a session tackling production and post-consumer waste recycling, which demonstrate the industry’s strong commitment to sustainability in all its dimensions.

Discussions and networking

The Symposium featured a mix of issues and topics on nonwovens in all types of applications, with a particular focus on the manufacturing of nonwovens, and addresses the innovative technologies, products and uses of nonwoven materials or products.

A memorable walking dinner sponsored by PEGAS Nonwovens allowed participants to continue to network in the beautiful setting of the 16th Century Ball Game Hall and gardens of the Castle area of Prague.

“A key learning from this Symposium, is that, for nonwovens, high performance is not a prerogative of just some enduses, but actually a requirement to succeed on all markets,” said Pierre Conrath, EDANA’s Sustainability and Public Affairs Director.
