Depestele, the leading private group specialised in the extraction and processing of flax fibres based in Bourguebus, France, is entering into an exclusive partnership with Fibroline for the development of composite reinforcements using bast fibres.

Fibroline, a technology and engineering company based in Limonest, also in France, has developed and patented a range of dry powder impregnation technologies and has equipped its innovation centre near Lyon with a wide range of machines in order to develop products with its partners and validate all technical characteristics prior to technology transfer at industrial scale.

The Fibroline technologies have already led to the commercialisation of a number of new advanced technical textiles and nonwovens with applications in areas including medical, hygiene and filtration, with many more currently in development.

Depestele’s objectives are to increase annual production volumes and further reduce the environmental impact of its high-performance flax reinforcements for the composite materials market.

“The Fibroline technology will enable us to reach an annual roving production capacity of 300 tons in various counts,” says Depestele president Marc Depestele. “This increase in production aims to meet the growing demand from our customers for our Lincore reinforcements.”
