The company has also introduced Vestex Now, a comprehensive programme designed to make its innovative Vestex healthcare apparel immediately available to healthcare workers across the US.

Vestex represents a new class of active barrier protective fabrics for everyday use and is proven in a hospital setting to reduce the acquisition and retention of microbes and other contaminants on the fabric itself. Vestex Now is designed to help minimize barriers that hospitals might face in adopting Vestex and to ensure its benefits are rapidly and easily available to staff.

Vestex technology

Vestex combines three distinct technologies to guard healthcare personnel and patients from the transfer of microorganisms, blood, body fluids and other potentially infectious materials.

"A key element of our strategy is to make the unique benefits of our Vestex technologies widely available to at-risk workers and their patients. Vestex Now is an integral component in assuring we deliver on our commitment to innovation and is essential to achieving this strategy," said Bill Bold, CEO of Vestagen.

Contaminated clothing

Contaminated clothing is a known carrier of bacteria and healthcare workers have the highest rate of injury and illness leading to absenteeism of any occupation in the US. The transfer of contaminants from clothing to the healthcare worker or patient puts the individual at risk for infection.

Peer-reviewed published data demonstrates that apparel protected by Vestex inhibited the growth of bacteria, specifically Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), on the fabric by at least 99.99% as compared to traditional untreated apparel, according to the company.

Vestex is engineered to have robust liquid repellency and embedded antimicrobial properties while providing comfort and durability at competitive prices.

Vestex adoption

"As the first to offer evidence-based everyday protection in a hazardous environment, our Vestex technology is disruptive to the healthcare worker uniform market. We believe it is a compelling leap forward, so we wanted to offer a "go-to-market" program that allows our customers to make the leap with us," said Marc Lessem, Vestagen's Chief Marketing Officer.

"Vestex Now utilizes one-to-one education and an online survey instrument to effectively engage healthcare workers in the uniform selection process, thereby enhancing employee engagement and satisfaction, which are key metrics to hospital leadership. Once hospital staff and administrators jointly decide to proceed, Vestagen's consultants are available to facilitate Vestex adoption in a fraction of the time previously required."
