Outdoor brand Rab, owned by Equip Outdoor Technologies, has announced a strategic partnership with fellow UK-based company and aftercare expert Grangers.

Launching for Autumn/Winter 2025, the collaboration is introducing Grangers Down Defend, a new down treatment that redefines performance in the harshest conditions.

Grangers Down Defend is the result of a rigorous three-year development and testing process conducted jointly by the two partners. It is an at-source treatment made to clean and enhance the hydrophobic properties of down, maximising warmth, comfort, protection and longevity.

In terms of performance, Grangers Down Defend exceeds 2,000 shake test minutes for recycled down and 15,000 shake test minutes for virgin down and maintains its insulation performance through up to 40 washes. It is also bluesign approved and PFAS-free and will feature in Rab’s Autumn/Winter 2025 hydrophobic down styles.

As part of the partnership, Rab will also streamline its aftermarket service centre treatments for both insulation and shell wash, ensuring Rab customers can trust their gear to maintain peak performance in the harshest conditions.

“Ever since our earliest days, we have forged strong partnerships based on shared values,” says Tim Fish, product director at Rab. “These alliances enable us to develop products that are better adapted to the extraordinary feats undertaken by our community of mountain people. Whether you’re crafting apparel or launching an expedition, you can’t do it alone and it takes strong partnerships to achieve something beyond ordinary.”

“We are beyond proud to announce our new partnership with Rab,” adds Natasha Barwell-Jones, Grangers director of marketing and communications. “As two local brands, we’ve been able to collaborate to align our shared sustainability and performance values to enhance a Rab consumer’s outdoor experience in all conditions.”
