TeXtreme, the market leader in Spread Tow reinforcements owned by Oxeon, has introduced a concept that focuses on achieving weight savings with keeping the total cost of the composite part the same.

In order to further clarify the position and capacity for handling large volume contracts the TeXtreme Industrial concept has been added to the portfolio.

Larger picture

“We are very happy to see the ever-growing interest for TeXtreme and that more understand the full potential of this kind of materials,” said Henrik Blycker, CEO of Oxeon.

“As a natural step to further educate in the possibilities and putting the focus on the larger picture, we introduced this volume concept where we always look at the total cost of the composite part and work closely with the customer to fulfil all their needs in any volume.”

“We feel very confident that we, as a market leader in the Spread Tow category and with more than 10 years’ experience in this field, have both the capacity and the knowledge to produce this type of materials.”

Spread Tow reinforcements

Spread Tow reinforcements is a type of composite reinforcements based on novel technologies rendering a material that is said to give unique possibilities for weight savings and performance improvements as well as cost and time savings when looking at the total cost of the composite, rather than just compare price per sqm.

Through reduced amount of material and labour time by using fewer plies and the superior surface smoothness also rendering substantial time savings this can all be achieved simultaneously as saving weight, the company reports.

Achieving cost savings

Andreas Martsman, Vice President – Marketing & Sales of Oxeon, explained: “During the early years when TeXtreme was introduced it was mostly used in smaller series of high-end products because of its unprecedented performance.”

“Nowadays with customers buying in larger volumes and with established technologies the price levels are very competitive for lightweight reinforcements. In addition our knowledge and experience in reinforcement optimisation and processing regularly helps achieving cost savings, looking at the total cost of the composite.”
