Taiwan’s Singtex a manufacturer of functional fabrics, has successfully been awarded a patent (No.I630296) in Taiwan for its Stormfleece technology, with patent pending in the United States and Europe.
Stormfleece uses a single layer woven fabric that combines traditional two layer soft-shell and fleece without the need for a laminated membrane. This reduces the chemical use and energy consumption at the production phase, the company reports. Its high-density woven fabric also reduces the amount of micro-fibre loss during laundering.
“Singtex Stormfleece has technical attributes that passes rain test and provides thermal insulation properties with all in one woven stretch fleece. The surface of the fabric is abrasion resistant with durable water repellence and the fleece side is warm, breathable and soft. Outdoor and expedition enthusiasts can now enjoy their trip with weatherproof lightweight fleece jacket that is sustainably made,” Singtex claims.
“Made in a bluesign certified production facility, Stormfleece is customizable for garment brands to achieve their required outlook, texture and fleece length. The cutting-edge fabric is also upgradable with S.Cafe and natural fibres. Stomfleece can adopt S.Cafe, wool, nylon, lyocell and recycled polyester,” the manufacturer says.
French exhibition Premiere Vision recently commented on Stormfleece: “Huggably soft…technical fabrics that are cozy, like plush toys for children.” German functional fabric exhibition Performance Days awarded Stormfleece for its cutback on carbon footprint and chemical use in the manufacturing process. It was also consecutively chosen by ISPO Textrends under its Eco Era selection.
Outdoor enthusiasts can experience the comfort of Stormfleece through brands such as L.L. Bean Stormfleece Pro jacket. Stormfleece product lines will also be displayed in the following exhibition booths: Outdoor Retailer winter market (56024-UL) in Denver, U.S.A., and Performance Days exhibition(J07) in Munich, Germany.
Singtex is one of the most prominent fabric manufacturers in Taiwan. Since its founding in 1989, it has engaged in continuous research and development in the area of outdoor, sports, functional and environment-friendly fabrics. Its S.Café technology, launched in 2009, has now been adopted by more than 110 brands worldwide.
