The agreement will enable Crypton to mark with SigNature T DNA, and submit samples for authentication based on an annual volume based commitment. The Crypton Companies, the developer of environmentally responsible textile performance solutions, has initiated a SigNature T DNA textile marking and authentication programme.

SigNature T DNA is a supply chain traceability solution, developed by Applied DNA Sciences, the leading provider of DNA based anti-counterfeiting technology and product authentication solutions. It offers a closed-loop secure approach that can accommodate a wide range of standard textile treatment processes, and provide forensic based DNA authentication at any point within the supply chain.

Compatible with environmentally preferable chemistries, SigNature T DNA will provide Crypton with a comprehensive supply chain solution, assuring that the original ingredients or raw materials used are verified in the finished product.

Providing clarity

“SigNature T DNA is all about providing clarity so that sourcing and supply chain managers can ensure that the products at point of manufacture are traceable to point of sale. This is something that affects every stakeholder in the supply chain,” said Dr James A. Hayward, President and CEO of Applied DNA Sciences.

The partnership contemplates increased application in volume and in scale over time, for SigNature T DNA to provide solutions for multiple product categories, as well as in markets globally.

The agreement will enable Crypton to mark with SigNature T DNA, and submit samples for authentication based on an annual volume based commitment. The partnership brings new technology to performance textiles, and provides supply chain traceability and transparency.

Innovation and commitment

With more than 120 million yards successfully installed in hotels, restaurants, cruise ships, health care facilities and other heavy traffic application, Crypton distributes its performance textiles and related products through more than 50 US distributors and major distributors worldwide.

“Innovation is in our DNA. It's in every part of our business, and it is the reason why we believe the SigNature T DNA programme is going to help us keep our promise to our customers that our products are truly the industry standard when it comes to assuring quality, performance and now traceability within trusted supply chains,” explained Randy Rubin, CEO and Founder, Crypton.

Headquartered in Bloomfield Hills, MI, with facilities in Kings Mountain, NC and Hong Kong, China, Crypton is well known in the industry for its technology driven performance fabric solutions and patented technologies.

Major textile initiative

Over the past year, Applied DNA Sciences and Crypton have been collaborating on a major textile initiative to help protect and authenticate SigNature T DNA marked fabrics.

The durability of SigNature T DNA was proven after a year of extensive prototyping and testing of DNA in a wide range of treatments and fabric types. The marker was subjected to Crypton's performance tests, and it was demonstrated that it did not interfere with the engineered textile process, nor did it impact the performance or quality of the Crypton fabric.

“Performance is key. We’re excited to be working with Applied DNA Sciences especially since we know that there are always situations where there are heavy demands placed on our fabric, like outdoor furniture, mattresses, pet beds and even booster seats for children,” commented Hardy Sullivan, Vice President for Research and Development, Crypton.
