Ohmatex, a leading smart textile technology company, presents the new sophisticated connection between devices that consists of two connectors and a smooth textile cable that encapsulates all the necessary electronic components for data and power transferrals.
The cable has been designed with functional minimalism in mind as a soft, thin and smart solution, the manufacturer reports. It has been created by weaving conductive wires into a thin textile ribbon, to produce a uniquely designed product for the e-fashion market.
Properties
The new device was designed to make the wearer’s gadget-life simpler by incorporating the washable connectors and the tangle free textile and making it as comfortable as possible. The product is compatible with all micro USB-enabled devices for simple charging, syncing and data transfers.
This Ohmatex technology is also used by space explorers. It is an innovative way of creating durable, yet fine textiles that contain microelectronics.
Textile cabling
Textile cables are characterized by their considerable softness and strength. With the addition of connectivity to a textile ribbon, traditional textile properties such as flexibility, texture, colour fastness and washability are also preserved. Customisation enables inclusion of a fashion element in designs with opportunities for specific colours, patterns and textures.
Textile cabling can be integrated into garments or used externally as cabling for headsets and mobile devices. In recent years the company has designed and produced a variety of textile cables and different solutions, including body sensor ribbon, conductive elastic cabling and conductive ribbon for sewing into garments.
Ohmatex
Ohmatex was founded by Christian Dalsgaard in March 2004. Since 2008, the company focused on European cooperation (EU-FP7) and contract development for commercial and institutional actors.
Ohmatex now works with leading technology companies in Europe on the development of smart textiles for clients in the space, medical, sports and safety sectors. The latest development is an oedema measurement stocking, which has been spun off into a separate company, Edema ApS.
