NanoHorizons Inc., a manufacturer of nanoscale performance additives for textile, health care, and industrial applications, has announced a new partnership with J2LFA Co. Ltd. of Seoul, Korea, under which J2LFA will be the sole distributor of its SmartSilver antimicrobial performance brand to the Korean textile and industrial markets. According to Nanohorizons, J2LFA is a highly respected manufacturer of a broad assortment of natural and synthetic performance yarns including organic cottons and other eco-friendly products.
SmartSilver is said to be highly effective in the wide variety of textile applications and be exceptionally versatile, working with both natural and synthetic fibres and fabrics without changing the way those fabrics look, feel, or perform.
SmartSilver antimicrobial additives are available in a range of integration-ready formulations that are said to provide highly durable, effective protection against bacteria and the odours and material degradation these microbes can cause. The antimicrobial additives are approved to Oeko-Tex 100 standard as being free from harmful levels of more than 100 substances believed to be hazardous to human health and are also US EPA registered.
In addition to targeting the athletic performance apparel sector, J2LFA will market its SmartSilver enhanced yarns to the workwear, safety apparel, and hosiery markets. The company will also be developing SmartSilver textile applications for medical wet wipes, feminine hygiene products, and home furnishings.
“Collaborating with J2LFA will rapidly establish SmartSilver as the antimicrobial technology of choice in Korea,” says Timothy Skedzuhn, VP Textile Business Unit, NanoHorizons Inc. “J2LFA’s proven technical expertise and reputation for manufacturing outstanding yarns will make them a strong partner in the critical Korean market.”
