Performance Days, the go-to show for innovation, trends and new developments in the functional fabrics and accessories industry, closes today in Munich. Fulgar, the leading man-made fibres producer, took part with its green yarns in the collections of Schoeller and FOV Fabrics, both known for their environmental awareness and their commitment to a circular supply chain.
Quality, functionality and a commitment to sustainability are the primary objectives driving the most important fashion brands, leading to the development of new collections that also emphasise eco-design. These key requirements have inspired the new fabrics from two European brands, FOV and Schoeller, produced using the innovative Q-Cycle yarn and presented during Performance Days.
Q-Cycle is the result of an innovative chemical recycling technology where the raw material required for the production of the yarn has been replaced by oil obtained from the pyrolysis of end-of-use, discarded tyres. It offers the same functional and aesthetic benefits as a virgin polyamide (light weight, hold and resistance), enabling the production of high-quality, eco-sustainable fabrics with a green plus.
FOV Fabrics, a cutting-edge Swedish textile company is implementing a highly successful growth strategy in the context of sustainability and innovation. It presented a new collection of eco-sustainable fabrics for the outdoor sector, combining functionality with advanced textiles and circularity.
In the words of FOV: “We’re living in a world that’s increasingly aware of the issues surrounding sustainability, which leads us to invest constantly in innovations in this field. Our long-standing collaboration with Fulgar, has previously enabled us to develop a collection of fabrics with the bio-based Evo yarn. The willingness to continue to strive towards creating fabrics for a new tomorrow, has now resulted in our newest addition to the recycled family, a collection based on Fulgar’s revolutionary fibre Q-Cycle. Together with Fulgar we have created products that aim to address a gap in the market by responding to the demand for recycled products that are durable and do not compromise on quality and performance.”
Schoeller, an innovative Swiss company in the textile and technology sector, has also chosen Performance Days as the setting for the debut of Re-Source, its latest collection of fabrics with recycled yarns, inspired by nature. These high-quality fabrics are made with Fulgar’s Q-Cycle fibre and post and pre-consumption bio-based materials like recycled polyester and elastane. The garments in the collection are also lined with Nativa natural merino wool, totally traceable and produced in line with the highest sustainability standards.
“Re-Source is one more confirmation of the Schoeller brand’s vision, which aims to create a better future for people and the planet through the contribution made by the textile industry. The collection embodies a synthesis of high quality, refined design, sustainability and traceability. Collaborating with a company like Fulgar means we can make eco-sustainable fabrics and ensure certified quality and outstanding performance,” says Antonio Gatti Balsarri, Chief Commercial Officer of Schoeller.
The new offers from both companies were presented at Performance Days from 15th to 16th March.
