SSM Schärer Schweiter Mettler, a Switzerland based inventor of the electronic yarn traverse system, has attended four exhibitions in the last two months, welcoming a great number of visitors to its stands.
In April, the company presented its latest technology at three events, which included Saigontex in Hochiminh-City, Vietnam; Indo Intertex in Jakarta, Indonesia; and Igatex in Karachi, Pakistan. In May the manufacturer attended Techtextil, the leading international trade fair for technical textiles and nonwovens, which concluded in Frankfurt, Germany, two weeks ago.
The exhibitions took place on joint booths of the SSM representatives. During the shows, SSM met many existing, as well as potential customers that showed interest in the latest products, according to the manufacturer. “Thanks to the great effort and support of the SSM agents the exhibitions have been a great success.”

In Frankfurt, the shown DURO-TW precision winder and DURO-TD assembly winder impressed the visitors who attended the company’s stand. The DURO platform, for all kind of technical yarns up to 50’000 dtex, is said to offer a new level of flexibility and winding quality in one machine; thereby ensuring the fulfilment of all customer requirements.
Another highlight was the application for spreading, splitting and winding of carbon, as well as the possibility to optimise the yarn dyeing production with the SSM DIGICONE 2 winding algorithm, which has been developed to save time, resources and money.
SSM AG
The Schärer, Schweiter and Mettler companies merged in 1989 to become SSM. In 1999, Stähle-Eltex and SSM merged to develop air texturing technology and to strengthen their leadership position in the marketplace.
With HACOBA as its partner, SSM is also able to offer a complete range of sewing thread finishing machines. The company can also offer a complete portfolio for processed yarns.
Since 2012, SSM Schärer Schweiter Mettler has taken over the activities of Giudici, Italy. Giudici’s strong market position in the field of false twist texturing of high quality fine count Nylon yarns, an application that complements SSM’s established leadership in air texturing, will further expand SSM’s business in the chemical fibre processing industry, the company believes.
