Fashion for Good, a global platform for innovation, has announced the official partnership with Stella McCartney, one of the leading global luxury lifestyle brands dedicated to sustainability and innovation. The partnership demonstrates both partners’ shared commitment to industry-wide collaboration and to integrating disruptive innovations within the fashion supply chain.

With the addition of Stella McCartney to its network, Fashion for Good gains a corporate partner and inspiring leader in the apparel industry. “We are constantly exploring innovative ways to become more sustainable, joining Fashion for Good helps us on this journey. Together we can spark and scale the next generation of circular technologies and help change the fashion industry,” commented Stella McCartney.

A result of this collaboration will be on show in the Fashion for Good Experience from 5 October. This interactive technology-driven museum will feature a dress that was designed by Stella McCartney and has been dyed by Colorifix, using engineered microorganisms.

Colorifix is one of the promising innovative start-ups from batch 2 of the Fashion for Good-Plug and Play Accelerator Programme. This form of dying is said to dramatically reduce the environmental impact of the dying process which have traditionally been toxic and wasteful, consuming huge quantities of water, energy, and petrochemicals.

The sexy and feminine dress in Iris organic cotton was inspired by the Stella McCartney Summer 2018 collection. A similar dress also in collaboration with Colorifix is already showcased at the Victoria & Albert Museum as part of their Fashioned from Nature exhibition.

“It’s great to see Stella McCartney is actively embracing new technologies from innovators from our programmes. This dress is an exciting example of what good fashion looks like,” said Managing Director Fashion for Good Katrin Ley.
