Report summary
The latest update in this series of reports summarises the mood and trends which were apparent at the European fabric fairs for autumn/winter 2012/13.
The author of the report visited Prima Moda Tessuto, Munich Fabric Start, Milano Unica, Première Vision Pluriel and Texworld, where she interviewed exhibitors and found out first-hand which trends were proving to be the most popular.
Despite the European debt crisis and difficult economic conditions, there was a positive mood at the fairs -- helped by a perception that the market was recovering. Demand for luxury goods in emerging markets has been increasing and this was reflected in a rise in the number of visitors from these countries.
There were quality fabrics and a high level of creativity at all of the fairs, as well as an emphasis on variety. A number of fairs featured special sections to highlight the importance of sustainability and eco-friendly fabrics.
