Report summary
The latest update in this series of reports summarises the trends which were on show at the European yarn fairs for the autumn/winter 2015/16 season.
The author of the report visited Filo, Pitti Immagine Filati and Expofil where she interviewed exhibitors and found out first-hand which trends were proving to be the most popular.
The atmosphere at the fairs was brisk and positive, although the European industry as a whole continues to have problems. Cashmere remains the most popular fibre for autumn/winter 2015/16 and knitwear continues to be a strong fashion item.
The use of alpaca fibre is gaining in popularity and, as a result, some companies have expanded their production operations. Exhibitors showed predominantly light colours with natural shades, and many spinners are incorporating blue into their collections.
