New York-headquartered Ultrafabrics is launching Pumice, its latest fabric collection designed to bring the allure of underwater exploration to both indoor and outdoor active living spaces.
Inspired by the beauty of the ocean’s depths, the Pumice collection is distinguished by a new colour palette with unparalleled durability, through structures based on Repreve’s recycled PET polyester and Lenzing’s responsibly sourced Ecovero viscose.
“We have always offered global leadership in luxury marine performance fabrics – from mega yachts to smaller recreational watercraft – and we wanted to take that technology and offer it to the hospitality and residential design specifiers,” says Ultrafabrics director of branding Nicole Meier. “Pumice fabrics have the supple feel of leather that can live on outdoor furniture, but also the quality and endurance of luxury marine fabrics.”
The fabrics are equipped for the outdoors, featuring EPA-registered anti-mildew, antimicrobial, and antibacterial agents, safeguarding against deterioration and maintaining hygiene integrity. Their exceptional colorfastness to sunlight, perspiration, chlorine and seawater ensures lasting vibrancy even in the harshest conditions. The textured surface of the fabrics adds a tactile dimension, making them ideal for active settings such as marine seating and high-exposure furniture applications.
“We wanted designers to know this fabric can withstand the climate from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to Tuscan, Arizona and every coast in between,” Meier adds. “We are currently celebrating our 25th anniversary, and setting new standards. With its sustainable composition, robust durability and inspiring colour palette, the Pumice collection empowers designers to create spaces that harmonise with nature while standing the test of time.”
Engineered to excel in all settings, the fabrics boast superior durability with industry-leading hydrolysis results and an impressive 400,000 double rubs, ensuring longevity in high-traffic environments.
Each linear yard of Pumice fabric repurposes approximately eight recycled plastic bottles and bleach-cleanable properties and SCS Indoor Advantage Gold certification further enhance the suitability of the fabrics for both commercial and residential environments.
