In honour of Earth Day, Thermore, the leading supplier of thermal insulation for performance apparel, joined forces with illustrator and artist Jacopo Ascari in a collaboration to personalise a puffer jacket for the British brand Contrado.
Through his illustrations, Jacopo Ascari creates melancholy yet powerful metaphors for our relationship with the Earth. His visual interpretations evoke the imagery of mothers and courageous women as symbols of rebirth and hope and draw inspiration from masters such as Botticelli, Klimt and Picasso, while also referencing Pedro Almodóvar’s film All About My Mother.
“This project was born from the desire to pay tribute to the Earth as one honours a mother – with respect, tenderness and deep love,” Ascari said. “I believe that art, like fashion, has the power to raise awareness and stir consciences. Together with Thermore, I wanted to create a visual message that inspires everyone to take better care of our planet, every single day.”
“This collaboration perfectly aligns with Contrado’s vision of merging artistry with conscious fashion,” added Chris Childs, director at Contrado. “By partnering with Jacopo Ascari and Thermore we’re creating pieces that not only make a bold visual statement but also embody a meaningful message about our collective responsibility towards the environment. At Contrado, our print-on-demand model ensures minimal waste and more sustainable production, reinforcing our commitment to ethical, responsible fashion.”
Thermore Ecodown, made from recycled fibres sourced from post-consumer PET bottles, is at the heart of Contrado’s puffer. The insulation is the result of years of research and development, offering a responsible and advanced alternative to traditional padding.
“At Thermore, we believe that sustainability should be at the core of every innovation,” said Laura Beachy, VP of global marketing and communication at Thermore. “This project represents our commitment to not only developing eco-friendly insulation but also supporting creative initiatives that inspire a greater conversation about the future of our planet.”
