BMSvision, a leading supplier of turnkey MES solutions, has extended its latest generation data collection hardware with the DU3, a small and low-cost data unit for the textiles and plastics industry. According to the company, customers can now benefit from high-quality data collection hardware for a minimum investment.

This compact, pre-wired unit allows a quick and straightforward connection of any plastics processing or textiles production machine resulting in reduced installation costs. Energy consumption will also be kept to a minimum as this device has a power of merely 5W, the manufacturer reports.

“The DU3, as all our data units, is used as a data collection device for the BMS monitoring systems, such as the WeaveMaster system (loom monitoring) and KnitMaster (monitoring of circular and warp knitting machines),” the company explains.

Integrated Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are designed to assure a stable wireless communication with the Manufacturing Execution Systems server. As operators can easily enter why a machine is down, input the number of scrap and view production and planning information, managers will be able to respond swiftly to changing conditions and enhance operational efficiency.

As well as the other BMSvision data units, this device is also IoT ready and hence future-proof. It has been equipped with an MQTT data broker, meaning that all data gathered by this device can be accessed from anywhere and be made available to other applications such as ERP systems and third-party apps, the company concludes.
