Scientists at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics have upgraded their proprietarily developed software, GeoDict, with two new modules. PleatGeo and PleatDict support users in virtual generation and property calculation of pleated filter media.
With these software extensions, it is possible to gain new insights into effect relationships between geometric form and performance characteristics of pleated filter media through variation of structure. For example, the software calculates the counter pressure of a filter pleat and its support structure. Following the simulation, the integrated visualization helps to identify the causes of locally increased pressure drops. With this, GeoDict gives valuable information for design adaptation of a new filter within its development stage. The modules have been validated in numerous industrial applications and show excellent concurrence with reality. The software will be presented in hall 3.0 at the Techtextil, booth H16.
