Based in Aspen, CO, Strafe Outerwear has joined the eVent fabrics family of brand partners by upgrading its big mountain offerings for Fall/Winter 2015 with eVent waterproof fabric, known for its ability to let the sweat out through Direct Venting technology.
“Other fabrics just weren't cutting it,” said John Gaston, co-owner and founder of Strafe. “As we pushed ourselves harder and harder each season, traditional membranes just couldn’t keep up and moisture build-up inside the jacket ends up being the limiting comfort factor, especially if you are climbing to earn your turns all day long.”
Freedom and comfort
Strafe added eVent to its popular Nomad Jacket and Pants—big mountain gear made for freedom and comfort in the backcountry or skiing resorts. Strafe’s one-piece Sickbird Suit is said to maximise all-day weather and snow proof protection for deep powder explorations.
“Hard and fast skiing creates sweat. eVent waterproof fabric technology allows body heat to leave the jacket in vapour form,” explained Chad Kelly, Global Product Manager for eVent fabrics.
“So moisture condensation inside is minimized because it is constantly passing through the fabric. This technology keeps you comfortable.”
Moisture management
Humans are capable of producing up to 1.5 litres of sweat per hour during strenuous activity. eVent’s Direct Venting technology is said to allow body heat and moisture to pass through the fabrics in one step.
The patented membrane technology in eVent waterproof fabrics is air permeable—millions of unimpeded tiny pores can breathe at their full potential, the manufacturer reports.
eVent membrane technology
eVent fabrics, introduced in 1999, are the air permeable and waterproof performance textiles. The patented Direct Venting technology in eVent waterproof fabrics has been lauded for its ability to let the sweat out and enhance the comfort of weatherproof apparel and footwear.
The technology used in eVent membranes was invented in the 1990s to improve the pollutant-capturing performance of air filtration systems and give superior protection to industrial machinery.
CLARCOR Industrial Air manufactures the eVent membranes, collaborating with suppliers to offer textiles to companies that create apparel, footwear, shelter and accessories for the outdoor sporting goods, military and professional markets.
