SGS is an inspection, verification, testing and certification company which offers independent services that help reduce risk, streamline processes, and operate in a more sustainable manner.
“The work we do is important because it’s aimed at making the value chain simpler, safer and more efficient,” said Spencer Yeung, SGS Vice President, Global Softlines. “We’ve been working closely together with ZDHC over the past few years and it’s great to now make this collaboration official."
New contributors
The announcement of SGS joining the ZDHC Programme follows previous announcements this month welcoming eight new contributors to the programme. The Programme's newest contributors are The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC), The Unione Nazionale Industria Conciara (UNIC), Seri.co of Centro Tessile Serico (CTS), a testing laboratory and product certification system, and Covestro, a leading supplier of high-tech polymer materials, including waterborne raw materials for textiles and synthetic leather.
“The power of the collaboration is proving itself,” says ZDHC Executive Director Frank Michel, “and we’re delighted to welcome SGS who will bring in their expertise and experience to collaborate with over 40 contributors already committed to ZDHC."
“In particular, we’re pleased to announce the formal collaboration with the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, as we share a large number of overlapping brands, and this collaboration will strengthen our work.”
ZDHC Programme
The ZDHC Programme began in 2011 with six leading brands, and today consists of 22 Signatory Brands, 12 value chain affiliates and seven associates.
Next month, in Shanghai, ZDHC will host a joint conference with the China National Textile & Apparel Council on hazardous chemical control and sustainable manufacturing. This one day event will provide an opportunity for suppliers, brands, and other interested stakeholders to engage with ZDHC standards and tools.
