The leading authoritative collection of textile terms and definitions, published by The Textile Institute is now available digitally.

Produced by a panel of internationally recognised experts in their respective fields and coordinated by a main Textile Terms and Definitions Committee, this definitive collection of all industry terms is assured by The Textile Institute, the world’s only chartered professional body for textiles, clothing and footwear.

Priority place to find answers

The year 2014 sees the launch of Textile Terms and Definitions (TT&D) in digital format. Throughout the year, this edition, originally published in 2002, will be updated and added to, ensuring it remains the priority place to find the answer to any question related to terms and definitions throughout the textile supply chain.

The current online version includes around 4,000 terms, fundamental textile knowledge is presented simply and effectively.

Faster delivery

The change in format from print to digital, is said to allow for faster delivery, instant access and a portable resource for everyone involved in the wider textile industry, from students and academics through fibre suppliers, to retailers, lawyers, and customs and excise professionals.

Rebecca Unsworth, Director of Professional Affairs at the Institute, commented: “This is a major move for the publication, taking it to a digital format will allow the Institute to continuously update, revise and add in any new terms as they become apparent.”

Availability

Covering every sector of textiles from fibres to the finished product, the updated version will include new subject areas, such as sustainability, design, smart wearables and nanotechnology.

The new digital TT&D is available via a subscription. Members of The Textile Institute receive a discount on the subscription prices.
