This 28-page report provides vital data and analysis highlighting the important role played by the world's key clothing export sources and their main destination markets.
Globally, clothing exports reached a record high of around US$423 bn in 2012, according to the latest data. Of this total, the world's top ten exporters accounted for as much as 88%.
China was the largest exporter with over 38% of the global total. The EU was the second largest exporter, followed by Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Turkey, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, the USA, Malaysia, Mexico, Cambodia, Thailand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The EU was also the fastest growing exporter in 2013, followed by Vietnam, the USA, Cambodia, China, Turkey and Bangladesh.
The outlook for 2013 looks to be slightly more positive than it was for 2012, with global merchandise trade expected to grow faster than the 2% rise posted in 2012.
