The Digital Composites Factory – a new joint venture between AFPT and Alformet, both based in Dörth, Germany, and New Frontier Technologies of Canberra, Australia – made its debut at this year’s JEC World in Paris.
The JV brings together each company’s respective expertise in design, automated manufacturing and advanced 3D diagnostics in the field of digital composites manufacturing.
“The formation of the Digital Composites Factory is a natural progression of our shared goals in composites technology,” says Coert Kok, founder and managing director of AFPT. “Together, we aim to provide a unique and comprehensive advanced manufacturing capability for composite structures.”
Located in Dörth, the Digital Composites Factory will more efficiently cater to the evolving needs and demands from sectors such as aerospace and automotive for well-designed and executed wound thermoplastic composites.
“The capability consolidated in the Digital Composites Factory will enable a future for composites manufacture characterised by tailored design, scalable production and digital twinning for 3D quality assurance and high-fidelity performance simulation,” adds New Frontier Technologies managing director Paul Compston.”The venture represents an opportunity for us to extend our presence in the European market.”
