Piana Nonwovens, headquartered in Cartersville, Georgia, has developed V/Smart, a family of engineered high-loft nonwovens that are infinitely adjustable in terms of density and shape.
Aimed at the bedding, furniture and transportation industries, these nonwovens are ten times more breathable and up to 60% lighter than polyurethane (PU) foam.
V/Smart nonwovens are crafted using certified, non-toxic, recyclable materials and can be moulded into any imaginable shape, making them a sustainable alternative to conventional materials. At the end of a product’s lifecycle, they can also be 100% reclaimed, recycled, sanitised and reshaped.
Providing even pressure point distribution with no moisture retention, the nonwovens are also VOCs-free, odourless and self extinguishing, and can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 70% compared to PU foam in use, according to the company.
