Alcantara received the Coup de Coeur LR 66 Award at the 6th edition of the Automobile Awards 2023 held at the Automobile Club de France in Paris on December 14th.
The award recognises the unique place that Alcantara occupies in the automotive world, chosen by the world’s leading car brands for its light weight, resistance, softness and high performance properties.
Alcantara can easily take on different shapes and textures thanks to a process that combines creative prints, advanced technologies and craftsmanship, characterised by Made in Italy quality.
It is already employed by car manufacturers including Aston Martin, Bentley, Hyundai, Maserati, McLaren, Peugeot and Renault, in addition to the fashion and furnishing designs of mLanvin, Yohji Yamamoto, Fumie Tanaka and Ligne Roset, among others. It is also used to distinguish Microsoft’s Surface Pro laptops and has been integrated extensively in exhibitions organised with prestigious museums including the Maxxi in Rome, the Victoria & Albert in London and the Mori in Tokyo.
“We are very pleased to receive this award, which recognises not only our commitment to unwavering innovation but also to sustainable development,” said Alcantara chairman Andrea Boragno. “We have recently introduced a range of products partially derived from post-consumer certified recycled polyester and have also accelerated research into end-of-life recycling to develop a pioneering technology that will fully recover the polyester component of Alcantara.”
