Scottish industrial textiles producer Don & Low has developed a new range of Daltex nonwoven composite fabrics that combine spunbond nonwovens with innovative reflective foils and metallised films.

The new Daltex fabrics are said to offer a range of strong, flexible and durable reflective nonwovens that can be utilised for a variety of functional and decorative purposes. According to the company the benefits of the new reflective composites include:

• low emissivity, reflective surface that acts as a radiant barrier to improve thermal insulation either to improve heat retention or, alternatively to assist in keeping items cool
• allows the passage of water vapour (breathable) whilst, at the same time, being water repellent

The new range of reflective nonwoven composites can be used in a range of applications including:

• flexible cover or wrap to keep items cool or, alternatively, keep them warm
• decorative reflective material, white on one side and reflective on the other

Don & Low says that some of the new Daltex materials have been validated for use in areas other than construction. If reflective materials are required specifically for construction applications, Don & Low asks interested parties to contact the company directly.
