The thirteen styles in the collection highlight eVent’s air permeable ePTFE membrane technology in both windproof and waterproof jackets that aim to help regulate core body temperature to optimize performance and comfort. Giordana’s new 2016/17 Winter collection, entirely made in its own factory in Italy, will be available starting September 2016.
“Giordana has capitalized on our best air permeable technologies in its new collection, and each technology delivers different performance benefits,” said Chad Kelly, Director of Sales and Product Line for eVent fabrics. “Cyclists generate a lot of heat and moisture, which needs to quickly escape through their clothing. But they also require essential protection from the wind and weather. eVent delivers the premium technology that keeps cyclists comfortable in a wide range of conditions.”
Air permeable membranes
Giordana is using three distinct products from eVent fabrics, which all feature eVent’s patented Direct Venting (DV) membrane technology that has, at its foundation, an ePTFE (expanded polytetraflouroethylene) membrane that is air permeable.
Air permeable membranes have an open pore structure that is designed to allow heat and body moisture to pass through the membrane quickly and easily in vapour form, to prevent the accumulation of moisture inside the jacket. According to the company, this highly breathable technology helps keep core temperature and humidity in a steady state and in balance during athletic exertion.
eVent fabrics technologies
Fabrics made with DValpine membrane technology are said to 100% waterproof and also windproof. Developed from the original product introduced by eVent fabrics in 1999, DValpine is designed for 3-layer laminated fabrics used for a wide range of products including outerwear.
Windproof membrane technologies used by Giordana include DVstretch and DVwind. Both are designed to provide high breathability and critical protection from the wind required by cyclists. Additionally, these membrane technologies are water resistant.
With the ability to stretch up to 85% and fully recover, DVstretch laminates aim to provide the ideal balance of wind proofing, water resistance, breathability and stretch comfort. According to the manufacturer, DVwind deflects more than 99% of the wind. With its high air permeability and moisture vapour transfer rate, DVwind aims to help cyclist maintain a steady core temperature while providing water resistance and protection from the wind.
A+V Extreme Winter Jacket
From Giordana’s new Acqua+Vento collection, the A+V Extreme Winter Jacket for men and women aims to provide the ultimate in warmth and protection from the elements for cyclists who train intensely through the winter months, in any weather.
Made of three independent layers, the A+V Extreme is designed for comfort in extreme cold and inclement weather and during high intensity training where maximum breathability is essential. The external shell uses a 3-layer fabric with eVent DV Alpine, the proven 100% waterproof and windproof membrane featuring eVent’s Direct Venting technology.
A+V 200 Short Sleeve Winter Jacket
The midweight A+V 200 Short Sleeve Jacket is ideal in milder winter conditions and cyclists who put in base miles and high intensity interval training, the company reports.
The windproof DWR-treated DVstretch fabric is said to provide heat retention, moisture management, in addition to water resistance. This aerodynamic jacket uses a light weight DVstretch fabric and membrane throughout the garment. Signature Acqua+Vento features include the high collar, long reflective ducktail and pockets.
Vero Winter Jacket
The Vero Winter Jacket is windproof and water-resistant jacket for the rider who cycles throughout the winter with limited intense efforts.
It is designed to offer warmth at lower exertion levels, so it is ideally suited for riders needing warmth balanced with the ventilation that prevents overheating and moisture buildup. The Vero features eVent DVwind triple layer, DWR-treated fabric and a micro-fleece lining.
