As a sign of what may become the norm post-Covid-19, the first Dornbirn Global Fiber Conference (GFC) to be held in Asia will be a hybrid event.

For those able to physically attend, it will take place in Daegu, Korea, on March 23rd to 24th 2021, while being broadcast virtually, and recorded specifically for attendees in the European Union.

While this arrangement has been forced on the organisers due to still critical pandemic-related restrictions in most countries, it represents a perhaps more convenient method of aligning time zones going forward, and the opportunity for even more global interraction.

Dornbirn-GFC@2021 will cover the new developments in fibres technical textiles and nonwovens and how they are being impacted by the push for sustainability and a more circular economy.

In opening lectures, Lenzing CEO Robert van de Kerkhof will examine strategic partnerships for systemic change and Pierre Wiertz, general manager of EDANA, the nonwovens association, will chart initiatives from his industry.

The programme features technical lectures from representative Korean companies such as Samsung, Hyundai Motors, Hyosung, Kolon and Huvis, in keeping with the aim of the conference to promote a hyper-collaboration between the Asian and EU textile industries.

The first Dornbirn-GFC Asia conference was intended to be held in 2020 but had to be cancelled due the pandemic.
