On World Cotton Day on October 7^th, Carrington Textiles announced exclusive support for the Better Cotton initiative with all of its products containing cotton.

The company is commiting to developing workwear fabrics that not only offer high levels of quality and performance, but also support the production of responsibly sourced cotton globally.

As an initiative, Better Cotton promotes sustainable farming practices to improve the environment and the livelihoods of farmers while ensuring high-quality cotton for consumers.

In 2019-2020, Better Cotton licensed over 2.4 million farmers from 23 countries across five continents who together produced 23% of the world’s cotton.

The scheme is sourced via a mass balance chain of custody model in which the cotton is not physically traceable to end products, but Better Cotton farmers benefit from the demand in equivalent volumes to those sourced.

When customers buy any of Carrington Textiles fabrics containing cotton, Better Cotton Credits are generated and can be claimed by a registered company directly and used to communicate the responsibly-sourced nature of the fabric’s cotton by using hang tags, labels and other marketing materials.

“With 99% of fabrics in our flame retardant, workwear and defence ranges containing cotton, this is a significant step,” says Carrington Textiles MD Neil Davey. “It reflects our dedication to reducing  environmental footprint and providing customers with responsibly sourced materials.”
