Bluesign has announced that it is participating in Amazon’s Climate Pledge Friendly which is now launching in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK. The new program will help make it easy for customers to discover and shop for more sustainable products. Customers will now see the Climate Pledge Friendly badge when searching for more than 40,000 products to signify that the products have one or more of 19 different sustainability certifications that help preserve the natural world.
“Amazon evaluated hundreds of external sustainability certifications and chose organizations that certify products that have demonstrated environmentally related sustainability benefits. Bluesign is proud to be one of the third-party entities certifying Climate Pledge Friendly products,” Bluesign said.
“We are thrilled to continue our collaboration with Amazon as a verifying entity supporting the Europe and the UK launch of Climate Pledge Friendly, ultimately making it easier for customers to discover and shop more sustainable products,” said Jill Dumain, CEO of bluesign technologies.
“Amazon’s high bar for choosing certifying bodies align with Bluesign’s commitment to rigorous and transparent verification of safe consumer products. Amazon’s new program will encourage brands and manufacturers to manufacture and source more sustainably, become verified, and grow their product selection. This cooperation solidifies Bluesign’s reputation as a leading global verification organization. When consumers shop for more sustainable products on Amazon, they can now benefit from the bluesign Product verification, which focuses on chemical safety for consumers and workers, as well as on environmental impact reduction.”
“We’ve been working with bluesign for over a decade to drive improvement in the energy, water and chemical management throughout the supply chain. Today nearly three quarters of our collection are bluesign Products, and we are glad to see that it will be easier for the consumer to find the bluesign Products in our collection through this new Amazon programme,” said Elaine Gardiner, Head of Sustainability at Haglöfs.
Bluesign’s participation in Amazon’s Climate Pledge Friendly is a huge step forward in helping retailers differentiate brands and products which create a cleaner, more sustainable future for people and planet, the organisation said.
The Climate Pledge Friendly selection includes beauty, fashion, grocery, household, office, and electronics products for consumers and businesses from brands including Cif ecorefill and Seventh Generation by Unilever, Faith in Nature, HP Inc., Calida, Esprit, Haglöfs, and Kite Clothing. Brands verified by bluesign technologies AG include Burton, Haglöfs, Helly Hansen, and Jack Wolfskin.
