‘Among-Us’ will be a special 650-square-metre installation by the team of well-known Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola at the heart of the Heimtextil 2025 home textiles exhibition which takes place from January 14-17 in Frankfurt, Germany.

The open-plan installation in Hall 12.0 within the Messe Frankfurt exhibition centre is being conceived to create a welcoming atmosphere in which to experience textile concepts, aiming to spark conversations about design, sustainability and conviviality.

The concept is being developed by Urquiola together with home textile chain partners from Italy and Spain, including nylon fibre leader Aquafil, rug maker cc-tapis, furniture designer Moroso and Kettal and digital fabrics specialist Parà Tempotest. Also contributing is Cimento, the developer of a unique, patented material obtained from natural components which uses over 90% mineral aggregates mixed with a cement binder to create new interior surfaces.

Immersive

As an immersive experience with optical and structural surprises, Among-Us will include lounge islands by Kettal with fabrics by Kvadrat, hanging textiles by cc-tapis made from regenerated Aquafil nylon yarn and seatings by Moroso. Cimento hanging structures will provide the installation with further architectural dimensions.

A grid-shaped carpet defines the installation, highlighting Urquiola’s unique take on materiality and combining conventional and unconventional elements to push the boundaries of textile design.

“Heimtextil is a perfect fit for us,” she says. “It offers the opportunity to create a two-way dialogue that begins during the trade fair and continues throughout the year. We are not only addressing specialists, but everyone who is interested in textiles. Our approach is evolutionary and aims for comprehensive interaction. We want to listen as much as we present and value personal exchange.”

On Wednesday, January 15, Urquiola will participate in the Architonic Live Talk and will also deliver a mini-lecture offering an exclusive glimpse into her creative world and unique design language.

As the first textile show of the new year, Heimtextil 2025 will feature the products of over 2,900 exhibitors from 60 countries in a well signposted market overview stretching over 16 halls – from fibres and yarns to consumer end products.
