Welspun India and DuPont Biomaterials have launched a new home textile collection, including bath towels and bedsheets, made with bio-based materials.

The collaboration brings together cotton and DuPont’s Sorona fibres to create home textile fabrics that provide exceptional stretch, comfort, moisture management, a luxurious drape, and a smooth, soft, hand feel.

Welspun’s home textiles collection houses more than 30 innovations such as Nanocore technology, which prevents dust mites and other allergens from entering home linens, and HygroCotton, which traps air in its core to make terry towels more voluminous after every wash, while regulating a bedsheet’s temperature naturally.

Additionally, the company has also introduced a patented multi-level traceability process called Wel-Trak that tracks finished products back to their raw materials.

Fibres made with DuPont’s 37% plant-based Sorona polymer are currently used in apparel applications, including athleisure and athletic wear, insulation, swimwear, outerwear, suiting and faux fur. The polymer provides technical and performance benefits including softness, stretch and recovery, and inherent stain resistance without the need for topical treatments. Sorona is a USDA Certified Biobased and Oeko-Tex Standard 100 product.
