Nonwovens producer TWE Group, headquartered in Emsdetten, Germany, is establishing a strategic joint venture in India with Obeetee Textiles (OTL), basedin Visundarpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Nonwovens production in India has already grown by over 50% in the past five years and much of the new capacity is going to the AHPs market, for which nonwovens production has rocketed from 16,600 tons to 84,395 tons over the same period.

The JV, to be named TWE OBT, will invest in setting up a new facility to manufacture nonwoven products for the health and hygiene sector, to contribute to the further expansion of this market.

TWE has acquired a 50% shareholding in OTL which is already a key player in the nonwoven segment in India, particularly in the automotive segment, with strategic OEM customer alliances.

The JV will unlock new growth opportunities by combining the market reach and customer bases of both companies. This expanded footprint will enable it to access untapped markets, diversify revenue streams and forge stronger relationships with customers in India and neigbouring countries.

As equal partners, TWE and OTL will collaborate closely on strategic decision-making and operational matters. The shared governance structure will ensure that both parties have an equal say in shaping the direction and objectives of the joint venture.

“We are thrilled to announce this significant milestone in our journey,” said TWE CEO Jörg Ortmeier. “This partnership brings together our complementary strengths and extensive industry knowledge. We are confident that it will unlock new opportunities, drive innovation and create long-term value for our customers and stakeholders.”
