Oeko-Tex is to offer a free online seminar that overviews Oeko-Tex Standard 1000 certification, the independent validation that textile manufacturing facilities are operated with environmentally and socially responsible methods. The free one hour webinar will be presented on November 10 at 12:00 noon EST as part of the Oeko-Tex Connects series that the association launched in May.
Like the well known Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification, which tests textiles to ensure that they are free from harmful levels of more than 100 dangerous substances, the Oeko-Tex Standard 1000 is a voluntary program.
The standard is a testing, auditing and certification system that provides an objective assessment of a company’s environmental and social management methods. In order to receive certification under the Oeko-Tex Standard 1000, companies must meet the stipulated environmentally responsible manufacturing criteria and provide evidence that at least 30% of the plant’s total production is already Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified.
“Sustainable textile manufacturing is important to both brands and retailers,” says Sam Moore who represents Oeko-Tex in the US. “This webinar will review Oeko-Tex’s approach to certifying manufacturing facilities and the products that are made there.”
The webinar will also outline the process for obtaining Oeko-Tex certification, the associated costs, and the marketing opportunities available for certified products. In addition, participants will have the opportunity for Q&A and to arrange follow up sessions to address their specific businesses.
The webinar will air on November 10 at 12:00 noon EST and is offered free of charge to textile, apparel, and retail executives as well as to members of the media. For more information, contact Dina Dunn at 336-471-5584 or [email protected]
