ProGARM, the UK’s specialist in arc flash protection, has announced the launch a new arc flash resistant hood, designed to protect operatives who work in close proximity to live electricity. Featuring an integrated helmet, the hood also contains an anti-fog coated, transparent grey visor, which helps to keep vision clear without skewing colours.

The ultralight helmet is manufactured from ABS materials, making it up to 20% lighter than other helmets on the market, according to the manufacturer. It is also designed to provide increased comfort and practicality through its dry-tech sweatband, adjustable ratchet, and Velcro fastener, which allows simple assembly and deconstruction.

Designed to be worn alongside existing arc flash PPE, the 9700 Arc 4 Hood gives the worker specialist protection when working with high incident energy levels.

“We’re delighted to add the new Arc Hood to our growing catalogue of arc flash PPE. At ProGARM we’re focused on continuously innovating our product offering to provide even more clothing solutions to protect workers, and we believe this latest addition to our range really strengthens our head-to-toe offering,” said Mark Lant, Technical Sales Manager at ProGARM.

“An arc flash can have truly devastating effects if workers are not properly equipped with suitable PPE, which is why we’re committed to designing clothing that is effective and comfortable. We frequently see PPE clothing being worn incorrectly when garments are bulky or rigid, and so we’ve designed this hood with comfort in mind – using lightweight materials and ensuring the visor leaves vision as clear as possible.”

Based in East Yorkshire, ProGARM’s key goal is to provide flame resistant safety clothing, such as its arc flash clothing range that offers the ultimate protection from the risks and hazards in which the wearers have to work.
