Following Napapijri Northfarer’s switch to Cordura UltraLite fabric earlier this year, the brand’s well-known Skidoo jacket has now been recreated using fully recycled Cordura re/cor RN6 as part of the latest Premium Outdoor Collection.

“Napapijri has always worked with Cordura fabrics to create iconic products,” says Paolo Pezzin, senior material manager at Napapijri. “Cordura is synonymous with resistance, durability and responsibilty, producing long-lasting garments that encourage consumers to buy less and wear more and breaking the fast-fashion habit. With the use of Cordura re/cor RN6, Napapijri can now offer  products that are highly sustainable, using responsibly recycled sources instead of virgin materials.“

The Premium Outdoor Collection designs are inspired by the many sides of Norway as a country that is deeply linked with the brand through its flag – a symbol of openness and passion for the outdoors.  Bringing to life the Norwegian inspirations in a series of sleek, clean and versatile looks, the collection uses premium materials to elevate any moment spent outdoors.

“We are applying our knowledge of durable fibre and fabric technologies to help shape and define the apparel of tomorrow and we are thrilled to partner with Napapijri on its latest collection,” said  Malayka Erpen, global consumer segment leader at Cordura. “Our GRS certified post-consumer recycled polyester and pre-consumer RN6 fabric technologies are both folded into our Cordura re/cor line. As the world evolves, we know a large piece of that will fall within stewardship and sustainability – we’ve put this work at the front of our efforts.

“Consumers are looking for apparel that they can use for both work and leisure pursuits and we make it a priority to continually bring new ideas and products to our brand and retail partners.”

By utilising specialised recycling technologies, Cordura has found a way to reuse waste from the manufacturing process, while still supplying a fabric that is engineered to meet the performance and durability specifications of the Cordura brand. The 100% recycled nylon 6 yarn transforms pre-consumer waste into Cordura re/cor RN6 yarn. Cordura re/cor RN6 fabrics are designed for a variety of products including technical packs, day packs, luggage and footwear.

They are rugged, with good resistance to abrasion and scuffs, as well as to tearing, and available in any woven construction – most typically plain, ripstop, basket and dobby.

Inspired by super lightweight, durable fabrics used in parachutes and hot air balloons, Cordura UltraLite fabrics are woven with high tenacity nylon 6.6 filament yarns and offer an optimal strength-to-weight ratio. They are ideal for use in technical packs, day packs, stuff sacks, pouches and accessories, as well as performance apparel outerwear.
