Designed by Stefania Ricci, Director of Museo Salvatore Ferragamo and Fondazione Ferragamo, with Giusy Bettoni C.L.A.S.S. CEO and founder, Arabella S. Natalini, Sara Sozzani Maino and Marina Spadafora, the Sustainable Thinking exhibition shares an artistic-cultural perspective on the vital issue of sustainability. The exhibition will take place until 8 March 2020.

The green dress

The garments and accessories in the exhibition include an outfit by Tiziano Guardini, the eco-designer who won the Green Carpet Fashion Award 2017. His creation is produced entirely from eco-sustainable yarn – a long couture dress in GOTS non-violent certified silk, also known as peace silk or Gandhi silk. The cocoon is not boiled with the silkworm inside it but is harvested after the caterpillar has metamorphosed into a moth and abandoned its former home.

The dress features hand-worked bias cuts that create waves that ripple with the wearer’s every step, generating a vision of an “ethereal, evanescent woman”. The outfit is completed by a technical tulle top made in Iluna with Q-Nova fabric by Fulgar, Fulgar’s eco-friendly fabric that makes the corporate production processes more sustainable because it is obtained exclusively from regenerated raw materials using mechanical, not chemical, methods.

“To me, sustainability means rediscovering that sense of a connection with nature, because I think we’re part of our planet, not its owners. All this is part of our ability to perceive the sacredness of life in an absolute sense,” commented eco-designer Tiziano Guardini. “It’s a pleasure to be able to collaborate with Fulgar and prioritise the link with our planet and nature, constantly renewing it with virtuous sustainability initiatives like the Sustainable Thinking exhibition.”

Q-Nova

In 2017 Q-Nova also joined the Higg Index, developed by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC), which enables companies to measure the social and environmental sustainability performance throughout a garment’s entire lifetime.

Fulgar, dedicated to Made in Italy excellence and an international leader in the textiles sector for the production of manmade fibres, has a long-standing commitment to sustainability issues with a green corporate programme and an entire portfolio of green products. “We’re excited about our collaboration with Tiziano, which we are renewing here at the Sustainable Thinking exhibition held by the Museo Ferragamo,” said Alan Garosi, Fulgar’s Marketing Manager.

“We launched our green programme some years ago and Tiziano Guardini is a valuable partner in an initiative that enables us to market high-quality, eco-sustainable fashion products.”
