At the Kingpins denim show in Amsterdam from April 12-13, Asahi Kasei will showcase its Roica V550, the world-first sustainable and degradable stretch yarn.

The yarn is being used in three new demin collections by Artisitic Milliners, Candiani and Prosperity which will be displayed at the Amsterdam show.

Roica V550 is a Cradle to Cradle Gold certified and degrades under ISO 14855-1 standards, decomposing to CO2 and water.

Artistic Milliners was the first manufacturer in the world to develop C2C vertified Denim Fabric in partnership with G-Star RAW and is now using using Roica V550 premium in its Earthcore platform. Earthcore fabrics are Ellen MacArthur Jeans Redesign-compliant and dyed with the company’s proprietary Crystal Clear 2.0 technology which enables salt-free sulphur overdyeing.

Candiani Denim is employing Roica V550 in its ReSolve collection based on a blend of GOTS certified organic cotton and certified regenerative cotton

In its Leave No Trace collection meanwhile, Prosperity Textiles is using Roica V550 in denims based on bio-based polylactides and Ciclo-infused recycled and degradable polyesters.
