The latest LoopTy Collection of Advance Denim, has been created by combining Asahi Kasei’s Roica V550 degradable stretch fibre, with Lenzing’s Tencel lyocell.
Roica V550 has been developed with a special polymer technology to provide a sustainable stretch solution for denim garments and undergoes partial degradation under ISO14855-1 conditions, while being the world’s first Cradle to Cradle-Certified stretch yarn with Material Health Gold Level certification.
Tencel lyocell fibres are made from sustainably sourced wood pulp and produced using resource-efficient closed-loop process with EU Ecolabel certification. The provide a soft, smooth, and breathable hand feel to the fabrics and are biodegradable in water and soil.
“Sustainability and performance have always been guiding principles for Advance Denim since its inception in 1987,” says Amy Wang, general manager of Advance Denim, which is headquartered in Foshan City, Guangdong, China. “Our past collaborations with Tencel have resulted in the creation of the Zero Cotton and Zero Virgin Cotton collections, which featured vintage denim styles made with no cotton or solely recycled cotton. These styles not only offer unique softness but also boast sustainable benefits. The only missing piece of the puzzle was the stretch element, which is now fulfilled with Roica V550. Incorporating the degradable stretch fibre required no alternations to existing production methods.”
Making its debut at Kingpins Hong Kong from November 21-22, the LoopTy Collection will be commercially available in 2025.
