Sympatex has been named one of the ‘Best for the World’ B Corp companies of 2021, placing it in the top 5% of 4,000 certified B Corporations worldwide.
The Munich, Germany-based functional materials specialist received the award from B Lab Global as a result of initiatives such as the Wear2wear European industry partnership for the rapid closure of the textile cycle, its development of the world’s first climate-neutral membrane, and for co-designing and being the first signatory of the UN Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action.
“Sustainability is at the core of everything we do and this award honours and confirms our years of ambitious commitment to closing the textile loop together with our brand partners,” said Sympatex CEO Dr Rüdiger Fox. “Sympatex is aware of its great overall responsibility as a company and deliberately sets its sustainability goals high. We want to do even better next year and live up to our pioneering role.”
As a B Corp company, Sympatex is committed to meeting the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency and accountability in order to balance profit with purpose.
Since the founding of the B Corp NGO in 2006, there are now over 4,000 certified B Corporations in more than 77 countries. The stated goal of reconciling profit maximisation with a social mission unites all B Corp companies on their journey towards a responsible, environmentally sustainable and socially fair future for business.
“This year’s Best for the World companies are operating at the very top of their class, excelling in creating positive impact for their stakeholders, including their workers, communities, customers and the environment,” said Juan Pablo Larenas, executive director of B Lab Global. “We’re proud of the community of stakeholder-driven businesses we’ve cultivated over the last 15 years and together we’re marching towards our collective vision of an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economic system for all people and the planet.”
